Dried Flowers
Dried flowers have been popular for centuries and are a great way to preserve the beauty of nature or to remember a special gift or event. Dried flowers can be used in a variety of ways, including wreaths, swags, bouquets, and table arrangements. But no matter how you choose to use your dried flowers, there are a few simple rules you should follow when caring for them. Your flowers should always remain out of direct sunlight. This will ensure that there won’t be any additional color fading. You should also monitor the environment in which you place your flowers; placing them near heat ducts or cold air returns can damage their quality. When needed, you can also dust your dried flowers with a duster or hair dryer.
When choosing flowers to dry, you should consider what you will be using them for and how well the flowers will preserve. Some very delicate flowers won’t keep well and may fall apart over time. Sturdy, quality flowers will preserve the best and will last the longest. The time it takes to dry flowers will also vary. Because most flowers are air dried, the thickness and water content of a flower will affect drying time. When storing your flowers, it is recommended that you wrap them in newspaper to avoid moisture accumulation. The temperature of where you store them is not important; just make sure that the flowers aren’t exposed to moisture or rodents and you can store your flowers indoors or outdoors.
